When You Arrive at the Airport
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (San Juan)
Proceed to Baggage Claim to collect your luggage. Be sure to keep your baggage claim receipt, as identification may occasionally be required.
Once you have your bags, exit the terminal on the same level and cross the street to the parking garage, where all car rental companies (except Thrifty) are located.
If you are not renting a car, taxis are readily available outside the baggage claim area.
Driving Instructions to the Villa
From rental exit, follow airport exit signs.
Take second exit to Carolina, Route 26
Stay left for about approximately three miles to exit onto Route 66. After merging onto Route 66,, go into the left lanes since you will be continuing on for some time. This is a toll road and you will need to pay $1.50. If you have a rental car, all car rental companies provide an “Auto Pay Sticker” attached to your car. so you can go through the auto express toll without stoping..
Go to the end of Route 66 Exit #20, but not marked since it is the end.
If you wish to get groceries at a very large store, Ralph’s Food Warehouse, turn left at the end of Rt. 66 onto Rte. 3 West and then take first left available to go back East. Turn into Ralph’s parking lot on the right. There are other stores in this plaza including clothes stores and a Radio Shack.
If you wish to go directly to the villa there is a smaller grocery store called FamCoop on the way at the Rio Grande Plaza. It is my favorite. Turn right onto Rt. 3 Este at the end of Rt. 66 and it is located on the left at the fourth stop light. At last stop, the fruits and meats were fine. It definitely has drinks, laundry detergent, etc.
After the Rio Grande Plaza, go two more stop lights on Rte. 3 East (Este) and stay in the left lane where you will see a huge sign for the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort with mileage marker “31km-Route 968”. (At this point, Pizza Land or more recently, Yunque’s Pizza) is on the right if you wish to get pizza. The phone number to order is 1-787-888-1303. You can call ahead and have it ready to pick up. They speak limited English, but enough for easy service. It is the best pizza and calzone we have found. Sorry to say they don’t have salad, however.)
If you go straight to the villa, take a left at this intersection and go .75 miles uphill to the marked entrance of Rio Mar. There is also another big sign for the Wyndham Rio Grande Resort. at this entrance.
Take a right here. You will come to a security gate. Go to the first gate and tell the guard you are renting at Ocean Villas. Follow this road (watch the speed bumps) and bear left as you pass golf course fairways on the left with tennis courts on the right. Always stay left. You will see the the hotel underground parking on the right and immediately after you will see the “OCEAN VILLAS” sign on the right . This is the building of your villa. You are in the first building on the right. Since you will need the underground clicker to lift the bar to your underground parking spot (#26) which is in your villa, park to the right parking area outside and take the elevator to the first floor. As you exit the elevator, go out and take a right to your marked Villa 8194/95 which is the first door.
Punch in the code which is 4590 to open the door.
Once Inside the Villa
WELCOME! Inside on the counter there will the indoor parking lot clicker to open the gate for your underground parking space which is directly underneath your villa. Again, it is parking space #26
You will need bracelets for the pool area which your manager, Jesus Garcia, will give to you, but no need to worry. The administration and pool attendant knows you are our guest. Just tell them you are guests at OV 8194/95.
Bring in your bags, get settled and RELAX. Get a bite to eat at the Wyndham next door if you don’t want to cook. The restaurant, Roots, is recommended along with Margaritaville which is outside. Enjoy the ocean.
